About PIGEONATION

Art Design and Pigeon Photography

If ever I want to give something back to the Pigeon Sport, it is to paint a positive image for the sport and help promote the awesome inner beauty in racing pigeons through my Art, Design and Photography, wherever my natural talent brings us together. I do hope it is possible through PIGEONATION.

Early in my life as a kid, I always enjoyed racing pigeons and dream of someday becoming a successful pigeon racer. But it was only when I came to Canada in 2001 that the possibility of pigeon racing came to reality. After years of settling down, I finally pursued this dream and as I kept in touch with veteran pigeon fanciers in our area, I knew this world of opportunity has opened for me.

I started to build my loft in 2008, and I raced in 2009 for the first time in a very competitive Oshawa Club with 18 flying members in young birds. I've had my first taste of winning in my first year, when I won in Temiscaming race station (300kms) with 1st place in club and 1st place in Easten Ontario Combine with 45 veteran fanciers in tough competition. In the following year 2010, I won again with 1st place in Oshawa Club and a 1st place in Combine in the Temagami race station (440 kms). I really thought I won't get 'lucky' for the next racing season but instead, 2011 was my best performance winning 3 times 1st club races at 300- 440kms, took the 1st prize in the Oshawa Young Bird Auction Race (537kms), and capped it with 'Champion Bird of the Year' in 2011 Young Bird Eastern Ontario Combine racing season. It was the highlight of my pigeon racing in a span of only 3 years, and quite an achievement as I was just a small team backyard flyer on a bad location, trying to  compete with top notch veteran flyers in Eastern Ontario. Due to growing family obligations and a busy time with my work schedule, I stopped for a few years. Although up to now, I am still hoping to continue racing when I finally have the time and when opportunity allows.

Racing pigeon hobby and design work in the pigeon world bring extra happiness in me. To be able to combine both worlds in Pigeon Sport with my God- given talent is a lofty goal and an interesting objective. After all, great work comes when you are happy with what you are doing. If ever I want to give something back to the Pigeon Sport, it is to paint a positive image for the sport by helping to promote the awesome and inner beauty in racing pigeons through my Art, Design and Photography, wherever my natural talent brings us together. I do hope it's possible through PIGEONATION.

MY POINT OF VIEW IN ART, DESIGN and PHOTOGRAPHY

Art, sketching and drawing comes naturally easy for me since I was a kid. I believe genetics played a role as an artistic blood runs in me from my father Lamberto, a great artist and sculptor who has won many major art recognitions in the Philippines and in the USA. Although growing up with my mother, Nelly, and elder brother, Bernie, has allowed me to explore creative intuitions on my own. My school notebooks were always filled with sketches, and I always find myself drawn in local art competition and exhibitions with a group of art friends. As for Photography, I grew up with a fully manual Nikon FM2 SLR camera which allowed me to explore my Photography skills with nature, racing pigeons, game fowls and others. It was an expensive hobby back then using film, but it has trained me to be more accurate and precise in taking quality pictures.

Design was an integral part of my development as I have a Degree in Architecture, which helped me substantiate designing in space with functions. In those days as a student, I won the logo, posters and cover design competition in the whole univesity campus and became the Graphic Artist in the University magazine publication 'The Augustinian Mirror'. My raw talent continued to shine as my cover designs won in the inter- school regional and national competition. Right after school, my work experience led me in an Architectural environment, Ad Agencies, Post Production Houses, Broadcast Design firm, Cable & TV networks internationally. These allowed me to dive deeper into cross- cultural design, motion graphics, broadcast design and animation. These fusion and convergence of design experiences helped shaped my own distinctive mark in today's highly demanding and multitasking world as my works continued to be recognized for companies that I have worked with, whether in Asia particularly in Philippines and Singapore, or in North America which spans from USA to Canada.
